What does a cubic metre look like?

A group of Year 6 students created a cubic metre.

We decided to think about whether some of our cubes could make up a cubic metre.

Actually one cube is not really a cube...

If 8 cubes did fit into the cubic metre then each cube would be 12500 cubic centimetres.

One cubic metre is equal to 1 000 000 centimetres cubed.
100x100x100cm=1 000 000

Fun in Maths...

  1. Can you imagine filling that cubic metre with 1 million little cubic centimetres! It would be so good to do the last one!
